I am aware that I am being seen in Dr. Rachel Magnell’s capacity as a spiritual and vocational life coach/teacher. She offers online life coaching/consultation for women seeking insight, empowerment, grounding, and change. Some exceptions are made for men at Dr. Magnell’s discretion.  

The goal of coaching is acquisition of internal knowledge which is guided and supported by coaching but largely determined by students’ investment and the determinants of their investment.  Kairos coaching does not guarantee specific results as it is contrary to the aim of building Self leadership.  Rather, it guarantees respectful challenge, spaciousness to reflect, exploration, and feedback.

Kairos coaching does not target mental health concerns as goals and initiating coaching is not appropriate for individuals when psychiatric conditions such as Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, Psychosis, PTSD, and suicidality are in an acute stage. This is not to say that once a relationship is established, coaching and spiritual direction can be appropriately maintained during an acute episode if one is receiving appropriate treatment. 

I understand that either party, myself or my coach, may close the relationship if it is no longer serving the values and/or goals agreed upon.  

I understand that coaching and/or spiritual direction is not a medical, mental health or any other type of health service. No diagnosis or treatment of, or advice regarding, any medical or mental health condition or illness is offered. Coaching and/or spiritual direction cannot substitute for, and is not an alternative to, medical or other healthcare diagnosis and treatment when a medical or mental health condition or illness is present. Individuals are advised to seek diagnosis, treatment and advice regarding medical or mental conditions or illnesses from physicians and other licensed healthcare and mental health professionals. If I wish mental health assessment, counseling or psychotherapy, then Dr. Magnell can provide me with referrals at my request. Although Dr. Magnell holds a Ph.D. degree in Counseling Psychology from the University at Albany, I understand she is not operating under any license as a healthcare or mental healthcare professional in New York State.  

I understand that payment is due at least 24 hours prior to sessions by check, Venmo with no surcharge, or PayPal with a surcharge of $3. I understand that cancellations with less than 24 hour notice will be charged in full. I understand that health insurance companies do not reimburse for life coaching or spiritual direction.
